Hi All,

Starting at BCG London Office in a few weeks as a consultant. I wondered if there were any online courses for excel and / or PPT anyone would recommend. For those that are at BCG are there any modules on the BCG LAB that you would recommend too? Many thanks!

  • BCG Lab has a FYSK (First Year Starter Kit) that is mandatory in some offices from a CD perspective. This is a good bootcamp to get started with.
  • Excel skills that are most useful are regular and financial modeling - so search for something accordingly. These exercises will cover most of the basic excel skills as well.
  • PPT requires 2-3 different skills
  • PPT1 - slidemaking1: You will need to do FYSK and then get comfortable with the Efficient Elements toolbar. Make it your best friend and know it INSIDE-OUT
  • PPT1 - slidemaking2: Get to know all the production companies available at-hand. Learn how to best use them. An excellent C will be able to do the work of 2 As simply by leveraging production effectively
  • PPT2 - storylining: You will find LAB modules for this. Further, you will also be given mandatory training for this.
  • Finally
  • I would recommend to always refer to YouTube for some cool tutorials.

Is the first year starter kit on the BCG lab platform?

Yes it's a playlist. Check with the CD team.

Hi there,

I would highly recommend the BCG LAB - do as many as you can! I particularly found the Excel and Alteryx labs useful.

I don't have any specific recommendations for online courses, but there's no need to go high-end here - you just need to practice!

Ah, not too major - also remember they train you on the job too...so please also make sure you're super fresh and ready to go when you join :) (Stamina is even more important than "knowing" a lot). Feel free to reach out to me for a "survival guide" (Not a sales technique. Genuinely free)
