Question regarding potential conflict of interest

Hi,

maybe a very random question but I’m about to accept an offer at McKinsey. My boyfriend is a project leader at BCG. Is this a potential conflict of interest?

It’s not a problem but you should flag to Professional Development.

No it isn't. Stay away from sharing confidential client information or talking about topics such as company pipeline etc.

Hi there,

Congratulations on the offer!

No problem with that, just be sure to follow the usual confidentiality clauses when needed (they should be mentioned in your contract).

Best,

Francesco

Hi there,

Not at all.

My wife was also part of BCG until recently. We have many friend couples who were each part of different firms. Nobody cares as long as you respect the confidentiality clauses. To be honest, after putting in so many hours at the client, the last thing that you feel like discussing with your partner is client data :)

Hi there,

This is perfectly fine!

Of course, you're bound by NDAs so use discretion in terms of discussion with your partner. But, as along as you follow the rules and don't disclose confidential client/company information you're fine!

Hello!

No, no problem at all. Actually happens a lot! (It´s happened to me twice! ) Just be upfront with it, not to create any weird situations.

Cheers,

Clara
