MBB Application Resume Screening

Hi,

i have a question regarding resume and cover letter screening at MBB specifically ME office. I applied for XYZ MBB firm on US school deadline. Due to different timelines, recruiting manager has sent an email that my application is still being considered and I will be notified in September.

My question is whether the recruiting team screens resume rolling basis or they will wait for final deadline that is mid September before screening resumes? Do they screen resumes on rolling basis or after the deadline?

Thanks

Hi there,

The process differs a lot from office to office.

From what I know from the Middle East, they communicate the results at the same time (in your case September), but they usually start reviewing the applications earlier (to manage the workload on their side).

Hope you hear back from them soon!

In the meantime, keep on applying to other roles as well. It's critical to spread your risk considering the current situation in the market. Sharing an article you might find helpful:

Hi there,

This completely depends on the firm, the office, and the recruiting channel.

The recruiter told you that you will be notificied in September. Therefore, they will tell you in September.

You're trying to have control over a situation of which you have none…try to move on and worry about things you can control (how many applications you submit, how much you network, etc. etc.) :)

Good luck!

Hello,

This varies by firm/office/region. However, if they said you’ll be notified in September, then that’s when you can expect to hear from them. They might start reviewing applications a little earlier to lessen the burden on them once the deadline rolls around, but they will be sure to assess earlier applications against later applications too.

If you're eager to know the specific timeline for resume and cover letter screening for the XYZ MBB firm's ME (Middle East) office, the best approach would be to reach out to the firm's recruiting team directly or to check any communication channels they provide, such as their official website or application portal. They might have specific information about their timeline and screening practices that can help you better understand when you might hear back from them.

Remember that each firm's recruitment process can vary, and it's always a good idea to stay patient and keep an eye on your communication channels for any updates from the recruiting team.

Hi!

This differs across offices and recruiting teams. Have seen both. However, if there is a deadline, and even if they have screened incoming applications before that deadline, there is usually a last “calibration chack" before invite/rejection notifications go out.

Hope this helps!

Cheers, Sidi

Hi there,

it really depends on the firm and recruiting team. For school recruiting, typically they'd wait for deadline and then screen for a given batch in one go, for hiring outside of structured OCR, they'd pretty much always do it on a rolling basis.

Wish you all the best.

Regards, Andi
