Soft Ghosting ?

Hi everyone,

I had an initial Talent Acquisition call with AlixPartners on a role I’m genuinely excited about. The call went well, and I followed up via email on after a week to express continued interest and ask about next steps.

I haven’t heard anything back no update, no rejection, nothing. I’m starting to wonder if this is a soft ghosting situation, which is surprising coming from a firm with such a strong reputation for professionalism.

Has anyone had a similar experience with AlixPartners recently? Is it common for them to go quiet at this stage? Should I consider this a dead end or just wait a little longer?

Appreciate any insights or advice!

Thanks,

Sorry to hear that.

If just a week has passed, I wouldn’t worry too much. It’s likely that they will get back to you soon, and if not, you could follow up again in a week or two.

In any case, since it’s out of your hands, I would suggest putting your efforts towards other firms / applications.

Hi there,

First of all, congratulations on the progress in the application process with AlixPartners thus far!

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your situation:

  • I would strongly advise you not to worry. Consulting firms will always provide feedback, even if there is a delay in their response. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you'll hear back soon and with a positive reply!

You can find more on this topic here: How to succeed in the final interview round.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare for your upcoming AlixPartners interviews, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen

That's strange.

I don't see any value to reading into it this way.

It's also likely that they are busy or that they are prioritising other things. Though I fully agree that it comes across as not being professional.

Follow-up again in a week or two.

Otherwise, put more effort into applications with other firms. It's important to go broad, especially now that the hiring market is struggling a bit.

Here's a guide that you might find helpful:

hey there!

It's not uncommon to experience delays, especially with lean recruiting teams or shifting business needs. While it's frustrating, a slow response doesn’t always mean rejection. If it’s been over 10–14 days since your follow-up, one more polite nudge is fine. If there's still no reply after that, it’s okay to move forward while keeping the door open.

This is strange. If only one week passed, this is normal. If 3-4 weeks are gone, then something went wrong. Not necessarily in your interview, but in the process.

Hi there,

In addition to what was stated, keep your options open and proactively seek other opportunities, as a candidate with an offer from other company is usually seen differently (positively speaking, of course).

Best,

Mari
