I had an interview with PwC middle east Assurance Digital audit Senior associate role for Oman location. I had saville assessment on 12th May, technical interview on 14th May and Final Interview on 21st May. After final interview, HR came to me on 22nd may to retake the saville assessment using another mail id, as i failed the assessment earlier. Last week she told me she will update me on next steps after eid break. Now yesterday she proactively texted me that they will update me soon on the next steps. Is it like confirmation that offer is incoming or they are likely to ghost me right now?
PwC middle east waiting for final offer
Hello there,
First and foremost, I don't think a company would simply ghost a candidate at this stage. In most cases, they prefer to reach out once they have a final decision and can provide a clear update.
One factor to consider is the Saville assessment. Since you mentioned not passing it initially, it's possible they were waiting to review the results from your second attempt before making a decision. Hopefully, the second round went much better.
The fact that HR is proactively reaching out to you is generally a positive sign. While it's impossible to know the outcome for certain, I would take it as encouraging rather than worrying.
For now, I would suggest being patient and waiting for their final update.
Wishing you the best of luck, and I hope you receive good news soon!
Annika
The signals are leaning positive, but don't get too attached emotionally just yet.
The biggest sign is them asking you to retake the Saville test. Firms don't bother reopening assessments for candidates they've already decided to reject. They do it because they want you to clear that last step and move forward.
The other good sign is HR reaching out to you on their own to say "next steps soon." Rejections don't usually come with a heads-up like that, they're just sent. The phrase "next steps" really does suggest you're moving ahead, not getting closed out.
Most likely, you're heading toward either a verbal offer call or the formal paperwork.
For now, just stay patient and don't follow up again, you've got the signal you need. In the meantime, prep your questions around comp, role, start date, and any visa or relocation bits.
One thing though, if it does turn into an offer, don't accept on the spot. Just say something like "thanks, I'm really excited about this, could I review the formal written offer before confirming?" That's standard and totally fine.
Good luck.
Hey,
Giving a definitive answer is really hard. What I can tell you is that I see two positive signals:
1. Asking you to retake the assessment after the final interview means they were interested in you!
2. HR employees rarely text with people they want to ghost: ghosting by email is much easier than by phone, where an overly anxious candidate might just call them a few times until they pick up their phone
Best,
Tom
A proactive message from HR after the Eid break is generally a positive sign. PwC Middle East usually goes silent when they’re rejecting someone, and they don’t keep updating candidates unless they’re still moving you through internal approvals. The fact that they asked you to retake Saville, followed up again, and said they’ll update you soon means you’re still in the process, not being ghosted. It’s not a guaranteed offer, but it’s definitely not a bad signal.
