McKinsey's imbellus

Hi,

I was wondering if McKinsey's imbellus is a eliminator for the India offices? I couldn't complete the redrock assessment in time.
Additionally, this was for an event of theirs, will I get to do the Solve again during my job application?

Hi there,

Yes, the Imbellus is one of the eliminatory stages of the interview.

However, if you did it for an event, they might allow you to retake it when you apply for the actual job. This differs from geography to geography and is best clarified with the recruiter.

Even so, I'd recommend you apply broadly to diversify your risk. Here's a guide on how to do this:

Best of luck!

Hi there,

1) I was wondering if McKinsey's Imbellus is a eliminator for the India offices? I couldn't complete the Redrock assessment in time.

At the initial stage they will evaluate both your application material and score in the game.

Most candidates don’t finish the Redrock, however there is a difference if you completed it up to case #1 vs up to case #9 in the last section, for example.

2) Additionally, this was for an event of theirs, will I get to do the Solve again during my job application?

The score is normally valid for 1 year, after which you should have to take the game again.

Good luck!

Hi there,

The short answer is yes.

Now, just because you didn't complete it in time does not mean for certain you are eliminated. Keep networking and seeing if you can get a referral for the job application. During that time, see if you'll be able to retake the test.

I highly recommend Francesco's or MCPs guide for the next time. Make the investment to pass this if you get another chance!

It is taken in consideration with other factors but it is an eliminatory stage.

Just be aware that not completing the tasks does not necessarily mean that you failed.

Hello,

Imbellus is usually used as one component of the job application, and is evaluated together with your CV, cover letter, application, and anything else (referrals, target school status, etc.). So doing poorly on Imbellus will affect your application, but won't necessarily doom it if everything else was good.

I suspect you'd have to do a separate assessment as part of the job application, though I'm not certain of this.
