BCG Final Round FollowUp

Hello,

It's been more than 3 weeks since my BCG SEA Final round. The HR has ghosted me, I send follow up email every week. I did not receive any reply from them.

What can I do in such situation? Is it a common practice for the recruitment team at BCG to be unprofessional?

Thanks

Hi there,

This does happen once in a while. It doesn't reflect on your situation however, and you shouldn't get discouraged by it.

Most likely something happened at their end - somebody's on sick leave, or vacation, or there's been some issue and the interviewer's did not manage to get a call to discuss your feedback.

But be certain - they will answer. If you've followed up already, all you can do is wait (though I know that's unnerving).

If it makes you feel better (and it certainly helps), try to invest your energy into other applications.

Best,
Cristian

Hi there,

before offer decisions are communicated, they have to be aligned between HR and the interviewers in the process. This can sometimes take time for various reasons. A few common ones are listed below for a general overview:

  • internal scheduling conflicts between HR and the interviewers, especially when partners need to be involved
  • the firm is still conducting more final round interviews with other candidates and they might want to wait for that to play out to look at the full candidate picture before extending final offers
  • offers have been extended to “first choice” candidates and the firm is trying to keep “backup” candidates on hold until they know who accepted and who declined their first batch of offers
  • holidays or year-end shutdown delay the decision-making and communication process
  • there is uncertainty internally around budget and the exact headcount they can actually hire so they are trying to buy time

I know that this is unsettling and every candidate wants to have clarity on the status sooner rather than later. Unfortunately, you'll always have to wait for the official word.

However, it is best to just assume a rejection and continue with the recruiting efforts with other firms until you have a written offer in your hands. That way you at least won't lose time.

Best

It is indeed quite frustrating, and should not be happening so you have every right to be confused about the situation. My hypothesis is that one or several interviewers are on summer holidays and the HR might be waiting for them to get back to get an answer. This hopefully doesn't last too long, as 3 weeks is already quite longer than the norm (but by no means gives an indication about a negative answer)

Hi there,

It’s frustrating, but unfortunately not uncommon—especially in busy recruiting cycles or when decisions are borderline or on hold.

You've done the right thing by following up. At this point, I’d suggest:

  • Sending one final polite follow-up acknowledging the delay and asking if there’s an updated timeline.
  • Reaching out via LinkedIn to the recruiter or even a consultant you met, if appropriate, to gently nudge the process.
  • In parallel, focus on other opportunities so you're not held up by one slow process.

It’s likely a bottleneck, not unprofessionalism—though it certainly feels that way.

Best, Evelina

Sorry to hear this, it's frustrating.

As Cristian mentioned, this does happen from time to time, but you will hear back.

Best thing to do is wait it out and focus on your other opportunities.

Best of luck.

Hi there,

Sorry for you being on this situation. As you wait, may be worthy to take a look into other companies just in case.

Best,

Mari
