BCG Final Round

It’s been 3 weeks since my BCG final round (campus recruiting), and I still haven’t heard anything. I followed up by email but didn’t get a reply. I got really good feedback from my first-round interviews, and the recruiter mentioned there could be extra interviews in the final round if needed based on overall feedback. A friend from the same pipeline has already had those extra interviews, but I haven’t been contacted again.

Is this probably a ding, or could they just be batching final decisions for everyone in the same pipeline?

Hi there,

First of all, congrats on making it through all rounds! That is a huge accomplishment!

It's super frustrating that you haven't heard for 3 weeks, I get that. However, the fact that you haven't heard, does not mean that it's a "ding".

Typically when you haven't heard for this long, it is simply because some decision maker in the process (e.g., Partner) has not been available to provide input - e.g., because they have been sick, or had a personal emergency or similar.

That being said, since you have a friend in the same pipeline, it is likelier in this case that they are indeed batching final decisions for this pipeline like you suggested. This is not very common for MBBs, because they typically hire anyone they feel did a great job in the interviews, even if that means they go beyond their "quota" of hiring for that cycle. However, sometimes the office is already beyond their quota, and thus decide they need to batch a pipeline - this may be the case here.

My advice:

1. Depending on when you sent your follow-up email (i.e. if it's been more then 2-3 days), there is nothing wrong with sending a polite follow-up email. Just frame it around how excited you are to land the position

2. Be patient. You will definitely get an answer - the MBBs never ghost anyone.

I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Thor

Hi there,

Three weeks is definitely on the longer side, but it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a rejection. BCG often batches final decisions for all candidates in the same campus pipeline, so they might still be finalising things.

If your feedback was strong, you could be in the “hold” group while they review others. The fact your friend had extra interviews just means BCG needed more data points for some candidates — not necessarily bad news for you.

I’d wait another week and then send a short follow-up if you still haven’t heard back. For now, stay neutral — it’s still open until you get an official answer.

Happy to help you prep – feel free to reach out.

Best,

I wouldn't assume a rejection at this point.

Sometimes it just takes a while. I also waited for 10 days after my last McK round.

Anything could've come up in between. Sick leaves. Vacations. Admin issues. Etc.

If you've already followed up, just wait now and try to keep yourself busy doing something else productive instead for your recruiting process.

Hope you hear from them soon.

Best,
Cristian
