Bain response time for final feedback

Hi,

I had my last final-round interview with Bain ME almost three weeks ago and so far I haven't received my final feedback. As per my perception, the interviews weren't too bad.

I've reached out to recruiting a few times and they've said Partners have not been able to meet up to discuss feedback, which can make sense since all have their daily business to attend to. Yet, in their last email from today, they mentioned they would be in the middle of target discussions for each ME office and thus could not share the final outcome. I certainly know that some friends already got their final response despite being interviewed after me.

1) Does this mean that I'm on a waiting list and of a lower priority?

2) Have my chances to get in diminished?

3) Should I stop reaching out to Recruiting?

4) Would it make sense to reach out to one of the Partners I interviewed with and who seemed quite supportive?

5) Any recommendations for this and how to deal with the situation?

Many thanks!

Hi there,

1) Does this mean that I'm on a waiting list and of a lower priority?

We don't know, but probably.

2) Have my chances to get in diminished?

Probably, but we don't know.

3) Should I stop reaching out to Recruiting?

Yes. Give it another few weeks before you reach out. Ultimately, if they want you they will reach out.

4) Would it make sense to reach out to one of the Partners I interviewed with and who seemed quite supportive?

Please don't.

5) Any recommendations for this and how to deal with the situation?

Move on and forward :)

McKinsey, BCG, Deloitte, PwC, Strategy&, Kearney, and a million other firms await!

Network and apply to everywhere else (I personally applied to 30 during my recruiting).

And, work on any lingering weaknesses.

You should take them for their word, i.e., no decision yet. The reason why others have received offers is because they likely were interviewed by different partners.

But let me be clear:
1. I'm on a waiting list and of a lower priority?
No, consulting firms don't do this. Not for recurring positions. If they like you they'll take you, if they don't they'll reject you. MBB don't resort for “second-best” options.

2) My chances to get in are diminishing low?
Not really. I could see the case for someone having a stellar performance and getting the news the next day because the partners thought they needed to immediately “grab” that candidate. But this is the exception. From day 2 to day 30, it's really just about the partners agenda.

3) Should I stop reaching out to Recruiting?
You should not reach out more than once every two weeks. Unless there's something new (e.g. having a competing offer)

4) Would it make sense to reach out to one of the Partners I interviewed with and who seemed quite supportive?
Not really.

5) Any recommendations for this and how to deal with the situation?
There's nothing you can do. Just keep working on your plan B.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you've been waiting for so long. By all means, three weeks is quite a bit, but it doesn't necessarily mean bad news.

Some offices do have waiting lists, so this could also be the case for you. But it could also just be that the Partners in charge of your case didn't manage to get together.

Since you already reached out and were advised to wait, I wouldn't follow up again for now. Give it a couple more weeks and hopefully you hear back from them in the meantime.

I know it's difficult and probably very frustrating, but try and not despair.

Best,

Cristian

Hey there,

I agree with all the things Pedro mentioned. Except. I would check in with the recruiter once a week as opposed to once in two weeks.

Best,
Eishan

1) Does this mean that I'm on a waiting list and of a lower priority? → Very unlikely, it is just matching the puzzle to see who, where, ….

2) Have my chances to get in diminished? → Not

3) Should I stop reaching out to Recruiting? → Depends, but if you want to push, you can say you have another interesting offer to which you have to give answer in max 3 day and you cant buy more time as were delaying them already waiting for BCG (for me it worked, i had a real other offer)

4) Would it make sense to reach out to one of the Partners I interviewed with and who seemed quite supportive? → Absolutely NOT

5) Any recommendations for this and how to deal with the situation? → Just relax, time to wait has nothing to do with your chances, just everyone's agenda is packed and it is hard to combine all feedbacks and move it.

Good luck!

Lucie

Hey there,

1. Potentially

2. Hard to tell from the outside. Could be due to other reasons as well (internal, admin, etc.)

3. For now, yes. They will get back with an answer. Reach out again in 2 weeks.

4. Not at this point.

5. Wait and look for alternatives

Fingers crossed for a positive outcome!

Cheers,

Florian

Stop reaching out to the recruiting team, it is a junior behavior.
There is no waiting list. Is either hired or rejected.
