Hi all, I'm currently a US MBA student, and I interviewed with Bain for its 2027 full-time hiring. The interview was a Power Round (so only one round, like a super day). I interviewed on Aug 27, but I have heard no updates. HR told me that I should hear back by the end of the week (Sept 4). However, given Bain tends to give offer calls very quickly, could I assume I will get a rejection? Thank you in advance!

No, you cannot assume that. They will communicate the outcome, whether it is an offer or a rejection.
No news does not mean bad news; it simply reflects a delay in internal alignment.
So I would just wait until the deadline HR provided, then follow up politely if you still have no update.

I definitely wouldn’t assume rejection yet. If HR explicitly told you to expect an update by September 4, I’d wait until then. Even with Power Rounds, internal alignment, partner availability and recruiting logistics can delay decisions.
The fact that you haven’t received an offer call immediately is not enough to conclude anything. Try not to read too much into the silence for now.

you need to give it more time because it isn't even September 4 yet. Concluding rejection just because you haven't heard back earlier than when they told you they get back to you is not warranted. Extending full-time offers requires a lot of internal alignment between interviewers and HR which can take time. Especially if they did a bulk interview round like in your case. If you haven't heard back by middle of next week I'd say you can politely follow up.

Yes, quick offers happen, but waiting is very normal after a big interview day. Partners often need a few days to sit together, compare notes, and pick the final list. You might also be on a short waitlist while they wait for other answers.
HR gave you September 4 as the date. Try to relax and wait until then.
