Anybody heard back after completing McKinsey Solve regarding R1 for London office (June 2025)?

I applied for the Associate role and completed the Solve assessment on 30th June. I’m really anxious because I’ll be needing visa sponsorship.

For those who’ve been through the process — does needing sponsorship hurt your chances, even if your Solve performance is strong?

Any insights or personal experiences?

Hey there,

Totally get the anxiety, waiting is the hardest part! For the London office, it’s normal to hear back within 1–3 weeks after Solve. Sponsorship itself doesn’t hurt your chances if your profile and Solve results are strong, McKinsey regularly sponsors in the UK, especially for Associate roles.

If you don’t hear back after 2 weeks, it’s fine to send a polite follow-up. Fingers crossed for good news soon—keep me posted!

Best,
Alessa 😊

• The timelines are still good. There’s not set response time for Solve assessments.

• Your office preference matters because that is where your application will first land. Unless you don’t have a home office in your country, I’d recommend applying to the home office and then doing a transfer OR reaching out to a recruiter to get their advice at this specific point in time (as there may be situation specific considerations)

Don’t worry - still well within the normal range for hearing back.

I’d suggest focusing your time on casing right now (both for McK and in preparation for other interviews).

I completed mine on the 28th June (London office) for the Associate role, but I haven't received the results yet either.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear the wait has been long. Still, it's rather normal that it takes a couple of weeks until you hear back. If it stretches to a month, then do follow up with HR.

Visa sponsorship shouldn't affect your chances.

Do apply to other firms as well, though, to diversify your chances. You can follow the approach here to maximise your opportunities:

Cristian
