McKinsey application withdraw

I would keep your application up and running and not withdraw it on such a short notice. While not a given it might lead to some issues on their side which then tags your profile negatively for withdrawing. 

I would not worry about the title so much for now. Usually, these are quite standardized and there is not much room for picking yourself. Also, there is the ability to change this further down the road but I would first generate the "pull" by delivering a good performance, which makes the company more inclined to accomodate your wishes.

I think you've done the right thing by getting in touch with the recruitment team. If you follow their advice and reapply then you should have no problem's and your Junior Associate application will not be impacted.

Having the correspondence with the recruitment team advising you to withdraw then reapply will also be useful should you come across any issues in the application.

I would not withdraw now:

1. If you applied for the ASC position and HR sent you the Solve Game link, it means that they agree with your fit to the role.
2. At this point, it might be too close to the actual assessment to withdraw. It could potentially lead to an application ban in the future

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your question:

• First of all, I would advise you not to withdraw your application because if the recruiting team has sent you the McKinsey Solve pre-interview assessment, they have already assessed your profile and therefore think that the Associate role is a good fit.
• Moreover, I therefore hope you took the McKinsey Solve pre-interview assessment.
• Lastly, if you still want to join McKinsey as a Junior Associate, you can try to negotiate the lower role once you have the offer.

You wouldn't have been successful in the screening process with recruiting for the ASC role if the recruiting didn't think your application was a good fit for the role.... So from this angle, I wouldn't withdraw

Then, if you do choose to withdraw - please verify with recruiting what the impact would be on your profile and that it won't lead to an application ban. 

Then with the Solve score, remember that these scores stay in effect for a year! So if you go for it now, give it your all!

if you feel prepared for the Solve test, I would take it. If you have concerns about passing the test, you might want to follow HR's advice and postpone the whole thing.

The fact that they opened the recruitment process for you for the associate position means that your CV credentials meet the necessary requirements. If you think you should start on a lower level, this could always be discussed once you get an offer. The recruiting process for Junior Associate is not going to be easier by the way. So by trying to switch things around, you will definitely delay the whole process which is a risk.
