Hi,

How much is the salary for the McKinsey Texas office associate (generalist) role (for someone with a PhD in engineering but not graduated yet)? Do I have any negotiation power or is it a fixed number?

Hi there,

In terms of the salary amount, you should get an idea of the possible range for an Associate on Glassdoor.

In terms of negotiating the salary, the base salary is normally non-negotiable. However, you may be able to negotiate the signing/relocation bonuses or the seniority you join if you have valid reasons.

Best,

Francesco

Hi there,

The base salary of McKinsey associate is $165k.

Remember, this does come with an annual bonus AND a sign-on bonus.

You don't really have negotiation room in regards to base salary (this is standardized) but absolutely do negotiate your sign-on bonus!

Hey there,

Should be around USD 170k to 200k. There is no room for negotiations for MBB salaries as they are standardized within one country/ region.

Cheers,

Florian

Base is fixed, other parts are negotiable but there's an upper limit that they usually won't cross. For example, signing will not be more than 30K, but if you're offered less than that, you can negotiate up to that upper limit. You can easily find the numbers for specific MBB's online. Start date is typically very negotiable as well.
