So I've seen a question today about someone having a similar problem to mine and the responses just prompted me to ask.
Problem: My undergraduate GPA is 3.352, which I acknowledge is pretty low, but most of the low side was during covid. Clearly, this isn't a good reflection on me. Right now I'm doing my a masters degree at a top school, however no transcripts are out until maybe a week into Jan. I'm aiming to apply for the middle east office, which has a set deadline on 28 Jan. I fear if I wait until new transcripts are out, I may be late in applying. Moreover, these transcripts will be just for term 1, only 5 courses. If it's worth anything, I passed CFA L1 also.
What I tried to do: I reached out to many people in the office from my school and I got two responses:
- Attach my undergrad transcripts along with CFA L1 results, and explain carefully in the cover letter that I'm doing a masters degree at a good school. If I do successfully join, I can send my masters transcripts along with the thesis. This was the recommendation from senior consultants unanimously, who staunchly prioritised applying early over grades.
- Bite the bullet and just wait until my term 1 transcripts are out. This was recommended by 2 new joiners.
I have a positive feeling about my term 1 grades, from a combination of assignment grades and ongoing finals. Further, I have good experience at a reputable firm. But I don't really know what to do. Would appreciate any help.
Thanks in advance!
