Hello to the whole community!

I received the invitation for McKinsey Solve, and I will try my luck in the next few days.

However, as I inquired on the web, I had a doubt about the rules of the Ecosystem Game. Seeing old solutions provided by users, I noticed that some of them include 8 species that are not completely linked to each other. For example, species A that can be eaten by species B, but then no other species can eat either species A or species B, going on to create two separate groups. Are these types of solutions considered valid? Or must all species be linked together?

In addition, I have a minor doubt concerning at the second game. In recent posts I have read that as the second test there is the Tower Defense game. I thought it had been completely replaced by the Red Rock Game. Could it be that it is back in vogue? Or is it misinformed users?

Thanks!

Hi Kevin,

I highly recommend MConsultingPrep's video sikulation so that you can actually play the game yourself and see for yourself all of the ways it works. (I have a discount code if you need it).

Additionally, Francesco's guide is fantastic.

Finally, I have multiple videos where I play the games and talk you through how to win.

Per your question, yes these types of solutions are valid - species do not need to be linked.

The Tower Defense game has mostly been replaced by Red Rock - which is a significantly harder test and needs much more prep (again, recommend MCP for this)

Hi Ian, Thank you for your answer, and for the material, I will take a lot over it. Therefore, is there a small probability of having the Tower Defense game?

Hi Kevin!

I haven't heard of a candidate receiving Tower Defence since the start of the year. The probability of receiving it is close to zero.

In terms of technical advice on the game, check out free simulations on Youtube or consider purchasing one of the guides from coaches or other platforms. It's worth the investment if you compare it to the probability of you passing the game.

Best,
Cristian

Hi Kevin,

1) Species A can be eaten by species B, but then no other species can eat either species A or species B, going on to create two separate groups. Are these types of solutions considered valid? Or must all species be linked together?

You don’t need to have all species linked together as this is not required by the rules of the game. So it is totally fine to have two separate chains.

2) In recent posts I have read that as the second test there is the Tower Defense game. I thought it had been completely replaced by the Red Rock Game. Could it be that it is back in vogue? Or is it misinformed users?

None of the users I helped with the game from March 2023 (several hundred) had Plant Defense as the second game – they all had Ecosystem + Redrock.

If you need more help, you can check the video simulation I created below (it includes Ecosystem, Plant Defense and Redrock):

For any questions on the game please drop me a message, I will reply within 12 hours.

Best,

Francesco
