Hi,

Both my friend and I, who both have similar backgrounds, applied to BCG and were just done with the online assessments a week ago. However, she (my friend) got invited for the first round interviews while I am not yet to receive any email. I have contacted the HR person after that and was told that the results for the online cases are in, and I should be hearing from them soon. I am so nervous, should I take this as a bad sign?

Hi there,

You shouldn't take it as any sign!

I know it's hard to do, but there's nothing at all that you can read into here. It's our instinct to want to find out before we find out…but there's nothing to do here but wait.

Ultimately, hope and plan for the best (i.e. keep practicing your casing and preparing for interviews)

thanks for your advice. I should get back to practising cases as this has kept me down for a bit today

Hi T,

First of all, congratulations on having done the BCG online assessment!

This is indeed an interesting question which is probably relevant for quite a lot of users, so I am happy to provide my perspective on it:

  • Generally speaking, there seems to be no correlation at all between the time passed until you hear back and the result. I agree with you that it might be odd given you applied in the same country and have done the online assessment at about the same time, but this is not a sign at all.
  • Moreover, please be aware that BCG (and many other consulting companies) seems to currently struggle with the recruiting process' lead time. As such, delays such as with you unfortunately happen pretty often at the moment.

In case you want a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare your (very probably) upcoming BCG interviews, please feel free to contact me directly.

I hope this helps,

Hagen

Be happy for your friend. This means nothing for you. Get inspired but please dont compare yourself to others all the time.

Be patient and crack on. All the best

Even thought it is hard to take, but this sounds like a rejection, I was in very similar place a couple of weeks ago

I feel your concern, but actually there's no reading you can do here. The only thing it means is that… you don't know yet and she does.

Good luck, hang in there, and plan for the best possible scenario!
