Hi there,
I have a short question regarding what you think is strategically suitable. I am in the situation that I decided to do a gap year after my bachelors degree. However, I am now really late with applying for jobs that still start in October/November so I am well aware that my choices are limited. However, I do not want to ruin my chances for internships at more “prestigious” consulting firms later in my gap year, so I am looking for advise. I have an offer from an Inhouse consultancy for an internship or I could work at a big 4 in an area I am not particularly interested in continuing later on (M&A). I am in fact more interest in the Consumer&Operations branch but there are no available spots at the moment. So my question would be if you would go for the M&A internship just for the name and later on change branches or is it more advisable to go for the Inhouse consulting internship (retail branch)? I am extremely afraid of having ruined my chances since I do not have a extremely prestigious internship now for the following months but I thought it would be better to pursue any internship now than wait until open spots are available again? Do you think I ruined my chances by not applying directly and now having to do another internship at a less prestigious firm (my academic profile would fit to Tier 1 or 2)? What would be the smartest way to do now?
Thank you for your advise!
