what are exit Opportunities for corporate strategy@tech

roles like business ops& strategy@ google, or corporate strategy@ fb, microsoft, those roles have a lot of ex consultants, but if they cant get promoted the next few years, what are the exit opportunities?

I'm not quite sure what you mean? If you can't get promoted somewhere, your exit move is 1) The same place(s) you came from or 2) Other lateral/similar roles

All the companies you mentioned are the most sought after… so before thinking of exit try a transfer or change of role within and give it another 2-3 yr. Otherwise going to a start-up/smaller/mid size company in a bigger role or even a lateral move to another industry company seems a plausible exit option.

Companies like Google, Microsoft, Amazon have a very extensive internal job marketplace that allows you to move around the organization if you wish to.

You may grow in your corporate strategy role as well.

Do note that promotion in big-tech companies is based on the grade-number rather than the title. And typically grade number based promotion is a function of tenure (unless you get kicked out). So if you do your job well, you will continue to progress upwards.

The exit opportunities from big-tech corp strat would be into startups and unicorns.

Hello,

It is quite common to stay in such roles at those companies for several years, but if you are high-performing the exit opportunities are very good as those are very highly sought-out companies. People exit into startups, PE/VC, make lateral moves into other tech companies, etc. There are also a variety of internal roles you could make a change to.

There are several exit opportunities available for such profiles:

Other tech companies in a new or same role
Start-ups
PE/VC (mostly related to tech investments)
Consulting companies
Etc.

They're good companies and the role is also highly requested by employers.

Typically the FAANG ecosystem is your playground after these roles (within certain limits).

Sounds like you're talking about non-tech roles in FAANG (there's a distinct split between tech and non-tech in these companies).

Loads of people move around different non-tech job families in different tech companies (e.g., Strategy / program managers / bizops in FAANG / other future-faangers like Stripe etc.).

Some try to switch into product management (tech role) as that's very in demand right now and gives amazing exist from thereon too.

Most people I've seen going into non-tech roles in FAANG tend to stay in similar roles and get promoted through the ranks, albeit at a slower pace than in consulting.
