Pending results from Bain AC final interview (happened Wednesday, it’s now Tuesday), but have to confirm/deny another offer by this Friday. Do I reach out? Am worried it might seem like I am just trying to rush a response from them

Hi there,

Yes, I would reach out.

A week after the final interview is a perfectly reasonable time to follow up, especially since you have another offer that requires a decision by Friday. Recruiters see this situation all the time, and a professional message will not come across as pushy.

The key is to frame it as providing context, not demanding an answer. Something along the lines of:

"I remain very interested in Bain and wanted to let you know that I have another offer requiring a decision by Friday. If possible, I would appreciate any update you can share on my application status, as Bain remains one of my top choices."

This gives recruiting the information they need. If a decision is close, it may help accelerate the process. If they are still deliberating, they will tell you that as well.

Hi there,

But you're not trying to rush out a response from them unfairly.

You can tell them you need to respond to another offer by Friday, so you're wondering whether it would be possible to hear from them before that.

That's perfectly fine.

Hope you'll end up with several options! :)

Best,
Cristian

Hi there,

We've all been there - waiting for the interview results, this is arguably the most frustrating part of the process.

I would suggest waiting till end of week then following up politely.

I talk about this in my article - you may find it helpful:

But I don’t have until the end of the week due to the competing offer and I obviously don’t want to lose that one if it turns out that I don’t get the Bain one. My question is, is it seen as impolite or pushy if I tell them about my situation?
