Hi everyone,

I have an offer call scheduled with the recruiter tomorrow and I want to ensure I’m fully prepared.

Anything to prepare? What should I expect?

LOL this is apex consultant energy. prepping for an offer call.

prepare a mece franework to hear "welcome to the firm, here are the details, any questions?" No one's evaluating you. It's genuinely just a conversation.

Relax and enjoy it. You earned it

(If you want something to think about: know your start date preferences and have a question or two about onboarding. That's it.)

Congrats!

Hi there,

An offer call is usually straightforward and positive — it’s mainly about walking you through the offer and next steps, not testing you.

What to expect:

  • Confirmation of the offer and the role/office
  • Overview of compensation (base, bonus, sign-on if applicable)
  • Start date or start window
  • Visa or relocation details if relevant
  • Timeline for receiving the written offer and deadline to respond

What to prepare:

  • Be clear on your priorities (start date, location, visa, flexibility)
  • Have a few clarifying questions ready
  • Be ready to express enthusiasm — it matters more than people think

Negotiation:

  • For most early-career roles, negotiation happens after the written offer, if at all
  • It’s fine to listen, ask questions, and say you’ll review once you have the details

Overall, stay calm, professional, and appreciative. You don’t need to make any decisions on the call.

Happy to help you prep — feel free to reach out.

Best,

Evelina

Wow! Congrats!

Typically, the call is just to congratulate you and explain the high-level next steps.

They will explain that they'll send you the contract for you to read closely. They will also ask if you have any questions.

You can clarify with them, for instance, whether they have an intended start date already. Do take some time to think about whether there are any other points you'd like to clarify. It's also a good moment for you to express your gratitude for all the effort they've put into the recruiting process, especially since they are likely to be your colleagues soon.

Hi there,

This call is usually more about alignment than evaluation. Typically, the recruiter will outline the offer, confirm practical details like start date and location, and explain what happens next in the process. Sometimes they also check how excited you are and whether anything could be a concern.

What you can do in advance is think through your availability, any constraints you may have, and a short list of questions you genuinely care about. You do not need to decide or negotiate live on the call. It is completely normal to say you are grateful and would like a bit of time to review everything properly once you receive it in writing.

Congratulations—a scheduled “offer call” means you have the offer. This is purely a formalities call where the recruiter will walk you through the package details, the official decision deadline, and the next steps. They don't block 30 minutes to deliver bad news. Relax; you've earned it.

The preparation isn't about passing a final test, but setting yourself up for optimal next steps. The recruiter will likely push you to accept the offer on the call or within 24 hours. They have internal metrics focused on closing candidates quickly, but giving in immediately removes all your remaining leverage.

Your main goal on the call is confirmation and clarity. Thank them sincerely, confirm the key components (base, bonus, signing stipend, start date, location), and express strong enthusiasm. Crucially, do not accept the offer verbally. State clearly that you are thrilled and definitely interested, but that you need 48 hours to thoroughly review the official written offer letter and accompanying documentation before signing or formally committing. This provides necessary breathing room to compare offers (if applicable) and research any minor negotiation points (like start date flexibility or small relocation bumps) without appearing indecisive or ungrateful.

Hope it helps! Enjoy the call.
