BCG Bob Camp video interview

The second part of the selection process for the event is to complete a video interview.

They will ask three questions to get a better understanding of who I am and my motivation. The interview will take approximately 10 minutes. How can I prepare for this short video?

Three questions in 10 minutes means each answer should be around two to three minutes. No rambling.

Expect the basics. Why consulting? Why BCG? Tell us about yourself. Maybe a behavioral like a time you led something or solved a problem. Prepare short, punchy answers for each.

For "tell me about yourself," give a 90 second version of your story. Where you come from, what you have done, why you are here now. Connect the dots.

For "why consulting" and "why BCG," be specific. Do not say things every applicant says. Mention something real, maybe a project BCG worked on, a person you spoke with, or something about their culture that fits you.

Practice out loud. Record yourself. Watch it back. You will spot where you sound stiff or go too long. Trim the fluff.

On delivery, look at the camera, not the screen. Speak clearly. Energy matters, but do not overdo it. Be yourself, just a focused version of yourself.

You do not need to memorize scripts. Know your key points and hit them naturally.

Good luck.

Hi there,

For a short BCG video interview like this, the key is clarity and authenticity, not heavy preparation.

What to prepare:

  • A clear motivation story: why consulting, why BCG, and why this event in particular. Keep it concise and genuine.
  • One or two strong personal examples that show how you think, work with others, or handle challenges. You won’t have time for many stories.
  • A structured way of answering (brief context, action, outcome), but keep it natural rather than scripted.

How to practice:

  • Practice answering questions out loud and on camera so you’re comfortable with pacing and tone.
  • Aim for clear, top-down answers: make your main point first, then support it briefly.
  • Keep answers focused — it’s better to finish slightly early than rush at the end.

What to avoid:

  • Memorizing scripts (it comes across quickly on video).
  • Overloading answers with detail.
  • Generic statements without personal insight.

Treat it like a short conversation where they want to understand who you are and why you’re interested. If you sound thoughtful, motivated, and clear, you’re doing it right.

Best,
Evelina

For future participants, the questions I got were:
1. Whats are your motivations for applying for the bob camp?

2. If you could ask anyone a question, who would it be and why?

3. Describe a time you went out of your comfort zone.

All had a 1-1.5 min time limit with 1min time to think after the question is flashed on screen.

hey there :)

For the BCG video interview keep your answers very structured and concise, since timing is tight. Prepare a crisp personal story, a clear why BCG and why this event, and one or two concrete examples that show impact or leadership. Practice answering on camera to sound natural and energetic, and make sure your motivation comes across clearly rather than trying to be overly technical. Happy to help you polish answers if you want.

best,
Alessa :)

Your prep should be the same as for the personal fit component of the interviewer.

Make sure you are prepared for:

  • Movation questions - why BCG? why this role? etc
  • Story questions - give me an example of a time when you lead a team through...
  • Situational questions - let's assume your manager would... how would you respond...

If you're looking for a material to practice the PEI component of the interview, you might find this useful:

Hi there,

I suggest to follow the STAR format and practice with friends and in front of a mirror to talk at a good and steady pace. Don't memorize the story and be at risk of being perceived like a robot, but just remember bullet points and speak naturally like you would to a person, with proper pauses and casual sentence structures.
