Mckinsey Marketing & Communications Internship Phone Interview

Hi all, I have a phone screen with a recruiter tomorrow for an marketing and communications internship. I don't see many resources for this position online and was wondering if anyone has any idea what types of questions I should expect for this role.

Hi there,

A bit late to the party but maybe you read it right in time:

You can expect a typical fit interview. The recruiter will likely ask about your resume, focusing on your past experiences relevant to marketing and communications. Be prepared to discuss your motivations for applying to this role and your future plans in this particular segment.

Additionally, it would be beneficial to have insights into current trends in consulting generally and related to marketing and communications.

Be ready to articulate your experiences, skills, and interests clearly and concisely by using the Pyramid Principle and structured communication to bring across your points.

All the best,

Florian

Hey Amanda,

Not quite the right forum for this but, in general, be ready to explain your motivations for joining the firm and what makes you a strong candidate. Make sure you can think through marketing/comms topics and speak clearly, concisely, and in a structured way.

Always answer the question! (easier said than done).

Good luck!

Amanda,

Wishing I would've seen your question earlier.

This call, FYI, might be an intro call to understand who you are and whether you're eligible for the role. In that sense, it might not even be an assessment. Do re-read the recruiter's email and try to spot whether this is the case.

Still, do have a good understanding of how to present yourself and your value proposition (i.e., a personal pitch) and then have several story examples of when you were at your best self and exhibited the sort of skills that are needed in the role that you're applying for.

Last but not least, do try to think of examples that demonstrate your knowledge and experience in the Marketing & Communications area, which would motivate why you are specifically applying in this space.

Best,
Cristian

Hi there,

This is probably not a rich platform for answers to your questions.

You might get lucky with someone who has good visibility into te ops side of the business, but fail that I would look at Glassdoor, Fishbowl, etc.

Good luck!

B.
