Mckinsey

I applied to a McKinsey recruiting event and was not selected. However, the email mentioned that they strongly encourage me to apply for full positions. Should I assume that it is an automatic email to everyone? Or they actually encourage me applying? Thanks everyone

Hi there,

Sadly, it's an automatic email that goes out to everybody.

But that doesn't mean anything to you. You should still apply. Just make sure that you have a better CV / application package this time.

Sending you here also a guide on how to approach the application process in the most effective way:

Best,
Cristian

Dear,

I see it as an excellent opportunity! If you feel ready, I would consider developing a plan for your preparation to crack the interviews.

One important point, however. Don't see this email as a reason to stress "oh god I have to send my application as soon as possible".

Take the time you feel you need to get in the best shape you can at interviews and walk out the door with the offer in hand.

Let me know if I can be of any help.
Best,

Antonio

Hi there,

Q: Should I assume that it is an automatic email to everyone? Or they actually encourage me applying?

Most likely it is a standard rejection email. In any case, you can totally apply for full-time.

If you need to find a referral for the new application, you can find some tips here:

Good luck!

Hi there,

I'm sorry but yes this is indeed a generic email.

But, this isn't good or bad! It just is.

Now, your job is to figure out how to maximize your chances of getting the interview. For this, make sure your resume is as good as it can be and that you are networking optimally (ideally getting a referral).

Here's some reading to help (advice applies to internships and fulltime roles): https://www.preplounge.com/en/articles/how-to-get-a-consulting-internship-tips-and-tricks

Good luck!

Dear candidate,

It is a great sign, super you got an encouraging email. Best is to prep and get started right away:

A) network so much, ctslk to peers here, they can even share interview experience or what they know about the firm, often candidates don't know how to network but in fact on preplounge the first steps are so easy.

B) get application ready, really master all elements of applications and allow yourself enough time beforehand to practise acing interviews, in particular case studies.

Best regards

Hello,

This is a standard email – but you should definitely apply for full-time positions if you are interested! Not being selected for a recruiting event is not going to impact your application.
