MBB Zoom interview attire

Hi All,

I have an upcoming zoom interview with one of the MBB firms and was wondering what will be an appropriate formal attire for ladies given the logistics of the interview. I'm definitely going for a formal shirt but my question is, do I need to go for a full on formal suit and blazer?

Thank you for this interactive and informative community where you help us with all out burning questions!

You should be good without a full suit. Blazer is optional - at least in Europe remote interviews are often without tie / full suit / …

Hope that helps :)

Hey there,

I agree with the sentiment of the other coaches. For virtual interviews, I would not go full-on suit and blazer.

Until recently, McKinsey Europe in their interview invitation email even clarified this topic saying that people should not overdress and a shirt is just fine.

Some of my candidates who logged into the Zoom call with a tie were kindly reminded by the interviewer that this was not necessary and told they could take it off if they want. :-)

Cheers,

Florian

Hello,

A formal shirt should be fine, blazer would be optional - go with what you prefer and feel most comfortable in. There's probably no need to go for a full formal suit if you are just going to be on zoom.

Best of luck in your interview!

Hi there,

In general, the rules for in-person apply to virtual! So, whatever you would wear in person you should wear for this interview.

I also always recommend dressing one level up as opposed to one level down. Blazer won't hurt, but do what makes you feel most comfortable!

If you want to feel formal/dressed just throw on a blazer. No one can really tell you are wearing a suit. At the end of the day follow the protocol laid out by the interviewer (usually sent as part of the interview invite)
