I am starting at one MBB in the US (west coast) in a couple of weeks. What should I expect to be given by the firm in terms of laptop, phone, carry on bag...? What would you suggest for me to buy to get ready for the job and travelling?

Hi,
Sharing the top useful gadgets in my consulting career:
- Travel charger
- These are lighter version of the laptop charger and save alot of weight and space (it all adds up quickly)
- Jabra wireless speaker
- Typically not issued by IT, but very useful because the quality of the audio and microphone is great and people won't strain to listen to what you are saying
- Wireless presenter/clicker
- Sometimes issued by IT for your case (depends on firm) but then you have to return them
- I always kept one in my bag and it was useful on multiple occasions
- Travel folder/wallet
- This is something like a long rectangle wallet folder with multiple ‘slots’ or ‘pouches’
- Useful for storing various foreign currency and more importantly receipts
- A good luggage / briefcase / backpack
- Personally for me this matters - you'll be using it alot so don't be afraid to invest in a quality one
Hope this list helps anyone facing a similar question!

Hi,
The firm will give you: laptop (with privacy screen), phone (with cover and privacy screen) + bag where to put laptop and documents + paper, pens, pencils, and all office stuff
What you should buy:
- Solid, high-quality luggage: you'll use it literally every-day, thus you don't want it break after the first month :)
- Backpack: business-like, if you don't want to put the laptop in a bag that you have to carry on one of your shoulders or by hand
- Suits and a lot of shirts :)
That's what comes in my mind
