How is resume screening done at MBB and other consulting firms in Middle East?

Hi,

I’m curious to know how is resume screening process conducted in MBB and other consulting firms?

Who is mainly responsible for screening? Is it the HR or consultants themselves who shortlist the resume for interviews? How is process different for MBA students coming from target schools?

Hi there,

Why does it matter?

Excuse my directness, but you're worried about things that 1) you have no control over 2) Don't affect/impact you and 3) Don't change anything about what you're doing

The answer is: It depends. Some firms/offices/roles automate it, some have the recruiter screen, others have consultants do it, etc.

Regardless, what YOU have to do is the same: Have the best resume you can possible have and network extensively.

Hi there!

Almost everywhere, the screening is done by HR, not by consultants. There are exceptions in some offices / regions.

Depending on whether it's during campus recruitment or outside, HR either judges each CV as part of a batch or independently.

They spend anywhere from 5 to 30 seconds on average on a CV and there are specific criteria that they look for.

I developed a guide that covers exactly the criteria that recruiters look for and how to account for them in your CV. Feel free to reach out.

Best,
Cristian

Hello,

It depends on firm. Some firms have automated tools that scan resumes before a human takes a look, others have recruiters and/or fellow consultants. Target schools follow a slightly different process in that those resumes are usually reviewed by the on-campus recruiting team (comprised of HR reps + consultants).
