FAANG interviews

Hi All,

Does anyone have experience interviewing for FAANG roles and can speak to how these are different vs. consulting case studies? interested to hear views across a range of FAANG roles - product management, sales, marketing, FP&A, strategy.

Cheers

Hi there,

Feel free to reach out. I've supported a number of candidates with FAANG interviews (particularly Amazon and Facebook) as well as other major tech companies (Uber, Doordash, Deliveroo, etc.).

The general rule is that they do have cases but they are more “unstructured” and more focused on brainstorming. Fewer charts and graphs and more “how would you do/assess this” type questions.

Depending the company and location, you could get brainstorming type questions/case studies. Some may even ask you give a 10-15min presentation on a topic. A candidate I helped recently for Google Singapore got very specific brainstorming questions on product growth, customer satisfaction etc. Cases wont be MBB style but if you have prepared well for Consulting type case studies, this should be good enough

Hi,

generally speaking, preparing for case interviews is definitely recommended. Type of interviews differs largely across roles, company and geography. Main difference compared to consulting interviews is that for many roles you will also be tested on your technical skills.

Hi, yes, I have seen many clients and positions in Europe over the past years. However to be useful in the answer, I would need more details about seniority, industry and roles you are lloking for

Yes, you are likely to be given a case in those interviews. They may require however a bit more technical / industry knowledge than the average strategy consulting interview.

Hello!

Happy to help here, since from Mck I went to Amazon, and I have been so far in 3 countries and 3 teams!

The good news here is that most of the prep you can do for Consulting, once the basis is solid, can be recycled.

Feel free to PM, happy to coach you on this.

Hope it helps!

Cheers,

Clara

Hi there,

Yes, please feel free to contact me since I have supported several candidates, especially with Amazon and Microsoft.

Generally speaking, the case studies are slightly less structured and more focused on brainstormings and providing creative soluations to (un-)conventional problems.

In case you want a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare your FAANG application files, please feel free to contact me directly.

I hope this helps,

Hagen
