Experienced Professional - MBA

Question

Hi all,

I have 5 years of experience in technology transformation / implementation consulting at a Big 4 firm, plus a Business Administration undergrad from a lesser-known Swiss university. I'm now considering a Master's ,most likely an MBA, but can't afford a full-time elite programme.

I'm weighing two options:

IE Global MBA – blended (some in-person in Madrid, rest online)
Imperial Global Online MBA – fully online

Which would you recommend?

My goal is to move into Strategy Consulting probably Tier-2 and if possible MBB. My main worry is not having a Master's and coming from a non-target undergrad. Would an MBA from IE or Imperial help offset that?

With 5 years of Big 4 technology transformation experience, I wouldn’t view the lack of a Master’s as your biggest issue. Your experience is already a strong asset for a move into strategy consulting.

Between the two, I’d lean towards IE because the blended format gives you more opportunities for networking and interaction, which can be particularly valuable for consulting recruiting. Imperial is also a strong brand, but the fully online format limits the networking benefit.

That said, neither MBA will automatically offset a non target undergraduate degree. I’d put just as much effort into positioning your experience towards strategy and networking with Tier 2 and MBB recruiters and consultants.
