Best Paid Practice Tool for McKinsey Solve

I'm currently prepping for the McKinsey PSG / Solve Game and have been looking at a few paid prep resources. Specifically:

  • PSGSecrets (Francesco’s guide with simulation)
  • MConsultingPrep (simulation + guide)
  • Prepmatter (platform with a newer refund guarantee)

I’ve heard different things about each, but would really appreciate insights from anyone who’s actually used any of these.

  • Which one best reflects the real game?
  • Did any of them feel off in terms of format, logic, or UI?
  • If you used more than one, which one helped you the most?

Thanks so much in advance!

Hi there,

First of all, congratulations on the invitation from McKinsey!

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your question:

  • First of all, based on my coachees' experience, none of these resources seem to effectively replicate the actual games.
  • Moreover, if you want to prepare for the McKinsey Solve, I would advise you to first look at all the free information available, as I don't think you need to pay to be well-prepared.

You can find more on this topic here: How to succeed in the final interview round.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare for your upcoming McKinsey pre-interview assessment and/or interviews, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen

Hi, thanks for considering my guide!

I think all the material you indicated could help with the prep.

With PSG Secrets, we tried to create the most comprehensive resource for McKinsey Solve, including 33 videos, simulations of all 3 games, a 160-page PDF guide and 3 excel solvers. This is to make sure you don’t have to look at anything else to be confident that you will perform well.

Also, on PSG Secrets we offer a 100% money-back guarantee if you are rejected due to the test (i.e., test indicated as the reason for rejection in the rejection email or not scoring in the top score quartile) and let us know within 60 days of the purchase. That’s because we are very confident that our material works. I believe the other platforms provide a partial refund at best.

If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me, I will reply within 12 hours.

Best,
Francesco

All these resources are decent and they are all likely to improve your baseline performance.

If you're optimising for finances, it might be worth checking out some of the free materials on youtube or otherwise.

Best,
Cristian

Hey!

From people I’ve coached, here’s what I’ve consistently heard: Prepmatter seems to be the closest in logic and UI to the real Solve game, especially the ecosystem and math questions. It’s also frequently updated, which matters since the game evolves. MConsultingPrep is okay for learning the general mechanics, but the format and logic can feel a bit off. PSGSecrets has a solid guide and good tips, but the simulation isn’t super realistic.

If you go for just one, most find Prepmatter gives the best balance of realism and focused prep.

Best,
Alessa :)
