Hi there,

Your McK interviewers are mainly interested in your

  • Problem deconstruction and creativity

  • Analytics

  • Communication

Hence, I would focus on “what are the right skills to learn and how.”

You want to build the skillset needed for a consultant already before the interviews to get the chance of an offer.

The context and function the case is placed in and your knowledge about it has about 10% impact on how you will perform. Your problem-solving, analytics, and communication have around 90% impact so know where to place your focus.

However, on top of that, you can still read functional briefs (in your case for procurement) or even create them yourself with AI to learn about current trends and hot topics.

Cheers,

Florian

Hey there!

From my experience, the McKinsey C&I Analyst interview typically has a similar case interview structure to generalist consulting, but with more emphasis on data analysis, industry expertise, and problem-solving within specific sectors. You might encounter more specialized or technical cases, reflecting the role's focus on delivering insights rather than a broad strategy. However, core consulting skills—like structuring, math, and communication—remain crucial.

Good luck in your prep!

Hi there,

Interviews and assessment levers for this role are pretty similar to those for the generalist position - expectations of structured problem solving and communication skills.

A point worth noting is that they might expect you to provide some nuances based on your industry expertise but that’s more of the icing on the cake than the primary metric under evaluation.

All the best,

Fathu
