Bain recruiting

Hello everyone

This is my question regarding bain paris office:

I first applied to bain paris office when I was doing my masters degree. I received the invitation to do the test but I decided to postpone the test and the whole process because I wasn't ready at all for the interviews.

In my last year, I got also an invite for the test while it has been less than a year since I have applied for an internship. Thus they took a time to reply. Through the help of networking with a partner at Bain, he talked to the HR and they replied to me and I got invited to the test. However, I have also decided to postpone since I felt I wasn't ready after failing some interviews at other firms. The HR replied and told me to reapply when I want.

My actual situation is the following: I have started a job as an IT consultant at a big4 and I am considering reapplying to bain. I am practicing again for case interviews since I have a top tier 2 interview coming in September ( I freezed my process with them when I failed my other interviews) . Since I am practicing, I am considering reapplying to bain in September. Would you think I have a chance to pass the screening ? Should I contact again the partner before applying ? ( I am afraid to bother him again since he really follwed my process and pushed the HR to invite me to the test a second time )

Note: I passed the screening 6 months ago when I was graduating for Mckinsey and all top tier 2 firms.

Thank you in advance !!

Hi there,

1) Would you think I have a chance to pass the screening?

Yes, you passed the screening before, so it is definitely possible that you pass it again.

2) Should I contact again the partner before applying? ( I am afraid to bother him again since he really followed my process and pushed HR to invite me to the test a second time )

Yes, there is no downside to that. Worst case he will not reply and you can look for another referral.

Good luck!

Hi there,

If you have been given the test 2 times already there's no reason you shouldn't be able to pass again. That said, please be careful with delaying next time!

BEFORE you apply in September, make sure you're 100% ready. Get a case coach to do a full deep-dive assessment. There seems to be a bit of a pattern here so you need to try to break it :)

When you do apply, I would indeed reach out to the Partner. Say you are now 100% ready and apologize if there was ever a time waste earlier (but you wanted to make sure you were 100% ready)

Good luck!

Hello,

If you've passed the screening twice already, it seems like you have a fairly good chance of passing it again! Be sure to polish your resume to maximize your chances of doing so.

I would reach out to the partner again! You can explain your situation and reiterate your interest in working at Bain. There's no downside to reaching out if you've already established a connection.

Hi there,

First of all, I am sorry to hear about your circumstances in the past!

I think this is an interesting question that may be relevant for many people. I would be happy to share my thoughts on it:

  • First of all, since your profile has become stronger, I would advise you not to worry about not passing the screening phase of Bain's application process again.
  • However, please be more thoughtful this time when it comes to your preparation, as strategy consulting companies still do not appreciate being stalled.
  • Lastly, I would highly advise you to consider reaching out to an experienced Bain coach to help with your preparation plan, if not with the preparation itself.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare for your upcoming Bain Sova pre-interview assessment and Bain interviews, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen
