Bain Associate Consultant 2025

Hi All - I applied to the AC role in London and completed the online tests couple of weeks ago.

Initially the email stated that we would get the outcome of the tests on September 8th. However I received an email today suggesting that I would receive an application update and any next steps next week. I am not too sure if this means I passed the tests or it has not been decided yet ? From my experience passing or failing the tests would a be straightforward outcome.

Has anyone come across this before ?

Thanks !

I got the same email as you - same question.

I would suspect that if we were rejected it would be told immediately? Not sure how to interpret it.

30% discount in September | Experienced interviewer & consultant (+5 years) | ex-BCG | RWE

Hello,

My advice is not to focus on it too much and just continue your overall preparation across application processes. Overthinking about results takes away your focus - you do not have power to influence the outcome anymore, anyway :)

Hey there :)

That kind of email usually just means they’re still processing applications and haven’t finalized outcomes yet. With Bain, it’s not always a simple “test pass/fail”, the online test result is combined with your CV, referral status, and office needs before they decide who to invite to interviews. So the delay doesn’t imply a rejection or a pass, just that the decision is still being made centrally.

In short: neutral signal, not negative. You should hear soon once they’ve completed the full screening round.

best,
Alessa :)

Hi there,

This usually points to a positive outcome. If you hadn’t passed, Bain would almost certainly have sent a rejection rather than asking you to wait. The delay is likely due to batching applications and scheduling interviews. Best to assume you’re moving forward and start preparing.

Best,

Evelina

For emails that are hard to interpret, it is safer to wait for a formal confirmation. A lot of these are auto emails generated when certain actions are completed.

All the best and hope you do get an invite,
