That situation is frustrating, but it’s a common issue with large firms that rely heavily on automated screening. When applications are auto-rejected, it’s usually because they don’t pass an initial system filter before a human ever sees them.

In that case, the most effective way to get around an auto-rejection is to make sure your profile is pulled out of the system. A referral only helps if it is linked to a recruiter or hiring manager who can actively flag your application. Generic referrals often still go through the same automated screen.

What works better in practice is direct recruiter contact or a referral from someone close to the team who can introduce you to the recruiter directly. That allows your CV to be reviewed manually rather than filtered automatically. At the same time, make sure your CV matches the job description very closely, since automated systems rely heavily on keywords.

So the workaround is less about submitting again and more about getting a human involved before or alongside the application. That is usually the only reliable way to bypass an auto-rejection at companies like Visa Inc.
