I might get offers from both Barclays and Deutsche Bank. Neither is a top-tier bulge bracket, but I want to make sure I position myself well for future exits. Which one has better deal flow and career prospects?

Hey hey,
Both are strong banks, so it really comes down to your long-term goals and where you’ll get the best experience. Barclays tends to have better M&A and LevFin deal flow, especially in the U.S., while Deutsche Bank is strong in Europe and credit-focused businesses. If you’re aiming for PE exits in the U.S., Barclays might have a slight edge, while DB places well on the buy-side in Europe.
That said, your specific group matters more than the bank itself. A strong team with good deal flow and mentorship will set you up for better opportunities down the line. If you get both offers, take the time to speak with people on the teams and get a feel for the culture.
Either way, you’re in a great position.
Good luck with the decision!
Best,
Rita
