Hello,

I hope you are all doing well. I am applying to consulting firms soon to apply to entry level positions at a few firms including MBB in London. Please could you let me know if my CV stands any chance of passing the initial screening round?

My situation is a bit unique in that, I always technically been self-employed so I am bit nervous in how that reflects as It doesn't really allow me to have the typical CV.

I founded my own start-up and then I became a freelance strategy consultant/market researcher. I know that its reccomnded to not have a lot of bullet points per job but i only really had two jobs so I believe that justifies me writing more than the standard 3 bullet points. I have a unique format i believe as I listed my freelance experience with several projects thus each project name, industry, duration took quite a lot of words and made it impossible for me to narrow down to less than 2 lines per bullet, I hope my format can still read clearly, please let me know.

Any feedback on my CV would be highly appreciated, even at a quick glance/ initial impression, feel free to nit pick. Thank you, I really appreciate it!

You have a fantastically done resume!

Rest assured that you have done (mostly) everything you can on the resume side. Make sure you also network extensively to even further increase your chances. (resume is just one part of the picture)

I like your CV too, good job! Would consider adding select bolding on your bullets for start-up work too, some interesting points there. For me 3 bullets are better than 2, not sure where you have this from. Best, Frederic

Hi there!

The CV is 80% there. It's in a good shape, but it can be improved in order to maximise your chances of passing screening.

For instance, within the education section you should go significantly deeper into your achievements and any other marks of distinction you received in your time there.

Feel free to reach out for a proper review over DMs.

Aside from this, sharing with you a guide on how to optimise other aspects of the application in order to maximise your chances of passing screening:

Best,
Cristian

Hi Christian thank you for your feedback! Regarding your point on Education, I would like to add my two recent certifications (short online courses), somewhere on my CV. Do you think I should add them within the education with a new heading “certifications” or under additional skills or make a new hearing jusr for them? For context it’s the following 2 courses: “Google Agile Project Management” and “IBM Data Visualisation” thank you!

Good to hear. It works if you just add them in the existing section at the bottom. Best of luck!

Hi there,

Congrats on the CV, it looks pretty solid to me. Not sure if it is covered with your tech startup work, if not be ready to answer the question “what did you do between Sep-20 and Dec-20".

As other coaches suggested, doing some networking would be an extra for your application.

Good luck!

Alberto
