Visa Sponsorship for MBB

Hi everyone,

I am exploring my options for full-time MBB entry-level roles, i.e. BA at McKinsey and AC at Bain (have secured a summer internship at BCG).

Having come from a top undergrad school in Asia, I am now narrowing my options to offices/regions that are more likely to sponsor international visas. Would anyone know the situation in the following offices?

  1. Singapore
  2. Hong Kong
  3. Dubai
  4. Riyadh
  5. Doha
  6. Abu Dhabi
  7. London
  8. Amsterdam
  9. Oslo
  10. Helsinki
  11. Stockholm
  12. Copenhagen
  13. Toronto
  14. Montreal

Would appreciate it if anyone could provide more detailed info on the visa sponsorship status for the above offices. If it's easier, a rating of 1 (extremely unlikely to sponsor) to 5 (likely to sponsor) for the offices would be great too.

Thanks!

Hi there,

Congrats on the offer! If you've got one, there's no reason why you shouldn't get the others :)

In terms of visa sponsorship, these things change at different times in different offices and it's a serious thing to consider when applying there. So it might be more reliable to just reach out to the recruiter from that specific office and ask rather than do so on the forum.

Best,
Cristian

Hi there,

First of all, congratulations on the BCG offer!

I think this is an interesting question that may be relevant for many people. I would be happy to share my thoughts on it:

  • First of all, I would highly advise you to narrow down the locations by considering personal preferences, local language proficiency, and work history, rather than just focusing on visa availability. Remember that strategy consulting companies will do anything to help you secure a visa once they have decided to offer you a full-time position.
  • Moreover, highly international offices such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and London are used to receiving applications from individuals without a work visa.
  • Lastly, to be completely sure, I would highly advise you to reach out to the recruiting teams and inquire about visa sponsorship.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to address your specific situation, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen

Hi,

For Singapore - its extremely difficult / almost impossible to get a visa.

Even for MBA candidates e.g. from INSEAD, there were instances where very few interviews were even extended to non-Singaporeans/PRs.

All the best!

Woah! That's quite the list.

Some of the ones that stand out to me are Dubai, Abu Dhabi, London.

Remember, your profile has to make sense and you have to have networked.

Make sure your resume has that country's language on it. Make sure you have past experience there (Work/education). Make sure you're spoken to people there and they know about you (and have confirmed they sponsor)

Good luck!

Singapre & London are extremely difficult.

Continental Europe, Canada are easier compared to US/UK/Singapore.

The other important consideration is where you are from/where you have lived/what languages you speak/etc..  If you have no affiliation with the office then it will be close to impossible.
