Currently in process of recruiting as BA in an Asia office of McKinsey. Finished final interview last week and one week on, assistant of the partner who interviewed me is requesting time slots for a zoom call “re. mckinsey recruitment feedback”. Between rounds, i was called by mobile by my interviewers. is having a zoom call at this stage indicative of anything? And the fact that “feedback” was used instead of “decision”, does that indicate anything?
Mckinsey feedback call

Hi there,
When I was a McKinsey interviewer, I gave people the good news via phone (normally Partners do this, but I got to do it sometimes, which was great). However, that also applies to the bad news. You can't and shouldn't read much into it.
It's really a personal preference thing and one person might differ from the next. There's no office standard. For that particular Partner in your case, it may just be less hassle to have their secretary put a zoom call in their calendar.
All you can do is sit tight and we'll keep our fingers crossed for you! Best of luck!
Moritz

Hi there!
I wouldn't read too much into it.
The partner might also just want to have a slightly longer discussion with you and wanted to have the slot in the calendar to make it more predictable for his schedule.
Hope you get good news from them!
Cristian

Dear,
thanks for the question. Honestly, I have never come across anything like this. However, I find it very interesting that the partner is so interested in having a second moment of confrontation. It is an investment of one's time. I do not have a crystal ball and my only advice is not to fret and wait for the time of the call. I know it will not be easy, but then again, there is nothing more you can do than you have done.
I am sorry I cannot be more helpful than this.
Let me know how it goes (fingers crossed for you!).
Best,
Antonio

Hi there,
Q: Is having a Zoom call at this stage indicative of anything? And the fact that “feedback” was used instead of “decision”, does that indicate anything?
Usually if they call for a decision they let you know by phone in both positive and negative cases, as mentioned by Moritz, so I would not read into it. In terms of the second question, I don’t think the use of “feedback” instead of “decision” makes a difference.
Good luck!
Francesco

Hi there,
Look, ultimately, you're trying to control something out of your control.
Just like an acceptance letter in the mail, you honestly will not know until the call itself.
I lean towards good news here, but it is honestly impossible for us to know.
In the meantime, keep applying to and interviewing with other firms - never stop until you actually have a signed offer in hand.
Fingers crossed for you!
