McK Recruiting questions

Hi! I currently finished the Imbellus game and waiting to be called back for the first round. Is there anything I can do meanwhile to enhance my chances of getting called back? I would appreciate any feedback or tips while going through this process! Thank you so much

Hi there,

Q: Is there anything I can do meanwhile to enhance my chances of getting called back?

Not to improve your chances of getting an interview, as this is not under your control anymore. They will assess the application material you submitted and game performance to evaluate if you should move to the next step.

What you can do now is to:

1) Prepare for the case interview (the next step if you pass the game) and/or

2) Apply to/prepare for other companies

Good luck!

Hi there,

There is nothing you can do to increase your chances to being invited to the interviews. However you can do two main things:

1) Prepare for PEI and case interviews

2) Work on a broader application strategy considering other consulting firms to diversify risks

ou can check how the recruiting process works from an internal MBB perspective here:

Happy to keep talking about this in private, just send me a message.

Hello,

If you don't have strong connections (which is the case for 90%+ of candidates), there might be limited options.

I'd suggest sending short notes to McK contacts, expressing enthusiasm about the ongoing process.

If you feel optimistic about the results, you could start preparing for the next round, paying special attention to fit questions at McKinsey (PEI).

Good luck!

Hi there,

Short answer: no.

The work you did before to have as strong a resume as possible, to network a ton and get a referral, and to prep for the Imbellus is where it all counts.

Right now, just focus on case prep and apps to other firms!

Hi,

you should focus on preparing for the interviews. If you do get positive feedback, the first round interviews won't be very far away in terms of lead time.

Your application has been submitted and is under review. There is nothing more you can do at this point. Just continue with other applications in case McK does not pan out.

Best of luck

You can't really change your odds at this point. Now it's really a waiting game for this particular application.

In parallel, I would just recommend that you continue applying to other firms. At least this way you improve your overall chances of getting an offer.

Sharing with you a guide on how to develop such an application strategy that sees diversification as one of its core pillars:

Good luck!
