Nonetheless, it pays off to be prepared and practice strong recommendations:

1. Top-down recommendation
2. Supporting arguments from the case, numbered and signposted
3. Next steps, numbered and signposted

Q: Does McKinsey typically request a recommendation at the end of the case?

McKinsey interviewers don’t always ask for a conclusion. On the other hand, I would still recommend being prepared for a conclusion, as you might need it (i) in case they ask and (ii) for the other consulting companies you are interviewing with.
