In short, yes you can. But same question as Vlad, what's the problem with reading them? These books serve as a good and effective way to get you started. Instead of figuring out everything by yourself, it probably save you a lot more time upfront while you learn the rope of consulting.

Of course you can, but in order to start it could be really useful to read the Cheng or Cosentino's book. One of them is enough, then it's better to ivnest your time practicing.
Reading too many books could be even a disadvantage, if you become too much "academical" during your resolution.

the simple answer is yes.

You can do that even without reading books.

However, you should be familiar with the hole mechanics of the interview process (Fit/behavior part, case part and asking the right questions at the very end) as well as most common concepts to crack the case.

A good book is just an introduction into the whole process, but mastering the interview you can only do through practicing (ideally with expirienced counterparts who have relevant recruiting expirience and can provide you sophisticated feedback and quide you through the process up to an offer).

of course you can, but reading a book (not necessarily the one of Cheng) is going to increase your speed of learning. As Vlad mentioned it doesn’t require much time to do so.

On the other hand, I would not recommend to base your initial structures on Case in Point or Case Interview Secrets as both are quite outdated.

my recommendation, in order to strongly increase your chances, is reading Cosentino or Cheng and practice 40+ mock interviews with other candidates.
