Hi could someone give me their solution approach to this question for comparison?

Hi,

I will use the following approach:

You may use the speed of a plain as the benchmark and assume that the Ocean 1/2 of a Sphere:

  • It takes X hours to fly from A to B over the Atlantic Ocean
  • The average speed of a plane is Z
  • Thus the radius of the Ocean is 1/2 * X* (Z-1) (Because it takes extra hour to take off and land)
  • The volume of the sphere is 4/3 * p* rˆ3
  • The volume of the Ocean is 1/2 * 4/3 * p * rˆ3 (Half of the sphere)
