In the case of having already secured a partner referral, is it worth putting in further effort networking with more people at the firm?
Should you network further with firm if you've already received a partner referral?

Hi there,
Quite simply: no!
I'm going to (politely) disagree with the other coaches here and say you should stop networking with this firm…there's too much else to do!
You're in an excellent position here and…
remember, time is finite. So, always think about “If I do this, what is it replacing”. Always look to minimize time/effort for maximum value, especially because during this journey there are so many other things you have to do.
Like a case, never forget the objective :)

Hi there!
It doesn't make sense to network further for the purpose of the referral.
But it might make sense to network further if your objective is to learn more about the firm, the industry and your role. But this is all a bonus that could help you have a better understanding of what to expect from the interviewer and thus enable you to prepare better.
If you're keen on networking for consulting roles, I'm sharing here a guide on how to leverage coffee chats to connect with more consultants and develop your knowledge of the industry:

Cristian

Hello,
Congratulations on getting a referral!
You've already gotten the biggest value-add of networking. Reasons to put in further effort might be if you want to learn some more information about working at the firm from people who are there, or if you're coming from a target school and want to put in some face time with recruiters and consultants assigned to your campus.
If you're not in either of those camps, I don't think you need to network much more at this stage. If you end up receiving an offer from this firm and are considering joining, you can always reach out to some more people then to get a better perspective on the job.

Hi there,
First of all, good job for the partner referral!
As Sharona was anticipating, it is good to keep networking to get to know more about the company. In particular, you can focus on asking those questions that will help you to:
- Gain insight on what's really differentiating about the company, which will help you craft the “why you want to work for us and not for another consulting firm” interview question.
- Understand deeply the firm culture, which will help you refine your FIT interview stories in a way that speaks to the company's values.
Wish you super good luck for the interviews, and happy to help if you have other doubts or need some coaching!
Best,
Francesca

Hi there,
Q: In the case of having already secured a partner referral, is it worth putting in further effort networking with more people at the firm?
If the goal of the networking is to maximize the chance of an invitation via referral, I would not look for an additional one in your case, given you already secured a partner referral.
Best,
Francesco

Hi,
I would rather spend the time trying to secure referrals of similar “quality“ for other firms you are planning to apply to.
And of course to prepare for the actual interviews which become more likely with a referral.
Good luck

It is always good to network further. It will help you get a better understanding on the firm which will be useful for you in your interviews.

It's a way of getting information about the company, the recruiting process, where to apply… if that information has value for you, then it makes sense.
If your only objective is to get another / an additional referral… the you don't need to. You only need one referral. There's a slight advantage based on rank… but you already have the top rank referral!
