MiM vs MiF

Quick and easy question guys,

What are the pros and cons of the Masters in Management and Masters in Finance when it comes to MBB?

Thank You

A bit of an unpopular opinion - but honestly neither are feeder programs into MBB, most recruits come from a traditional 2-year MBA or other advanced degrees like JD or MD etc.

High-level MiM correlates more directly with the actual management consulting work.

MiF gives you deeper knowledge and expertise in Finance, which signals that you have stronger numerical skills and a functional knowledge (which makes you then more relevant for the Corporate Finance Practice at these firms, for instance).

Still, both degrees are relevant and will strengthen your value prop.

I would encourage you to challenge the assumption of whether you need such a degree. I wrote an article about this here that hopefully you'll find useful:

Best,
Cristian

hey there :)

Both MiM and MiF can work for MBB. I’ve seen people from both backgrounds make it in. MiM is broader and can make consulting transitions smoother, while MiF grads often go into finance first, but consulting is still possible if you show strong problem-solving and leadership.

best, Alessa :)
