Hi everyone! I have an upcoming interview with McKinsey for a Senior Knowledge Analyst (SKA) role within the Digital Tech & Insights / Tech Modernization team.
The recruiter mentioned that the next round will be a technical interview with someone from the team who is a technical expert. They said the interview will go to “level 3” depth on the projects I’ve worked on, including introducing constraints/variables to see how I approach the problem and whether I can still deliver. There will also be a structured case study as part of the process.
My background is in Accenture Strategy & Consulting, with ~3 years of experience across technology consulting, CRM/marketing technology, analytics, and GenAI. I’m trying to understand what I should specifically prepare for the technical round.
For anyone who has interviewed for an McKinsey SKA / Knowledge Analyst / DTI / Tech Modernization role, I’d really appreciate insights on:
- What does the “technical round” typically involve?
- How deep do they go into your past projects and technical knowledge?
- What kind of technical/technology transformation questions should I expect?
- How should I prepare for the case portion?
- Are there specific topics I should prioritize given this is a Tech Modernization team?
Any advice, interview experiences, or resources would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!
