Mckinsey Referral Inquiry

Question

Hi PrepLounge Community, I am recently internally referred by a Mckinsey friend of mine. However, it has been more than a week and I have not yet heard back from anyone. (as a matter of fact, I have not applied online but am waiting for the referral link to apply). Is this a normal timeline or should I reach out and follow up? How long should the wait for the referral link be? Thank you!

Hey! I was in the exact situation - a friend referred me through the online portal; you should immediately get an email link once your friend has inputted the referral. Through this link, you can then register yourself as a candidate of interest.

Hi, it can take up to 1 month but I recommend trying to text HR without worrying about bothering them. They are there to help

Hey there,

Two ways that this could go:

Either you get a link sent immediately or HR will reach out to you with some delay. Depends on the office.

If you don't hear back after 2 weeks, ask your friend again about the status.

I agree with Florian. Depending on the office and their referral process it might be typical to get the link immediately or anytime between a few days and a few weeks. I would also recommend waiting another week and then following up with your friend and with HR. Given that you have a referral, definitely wait for that link to come through before applying though - a referral significantly increases your chances of getting an interview.

I agree with Florian - wait another week and if you still haven't heard anything in a week or so then reach out to your referrer and/or HR.
