MBB/ T-2 Dubai

Hello,

I had a couple of questions regarding MBB/T-2 recruiting for the Dubai office. Is there really a hiring freeze happening right now? I heard that Dubai offices are now overstaffed and that most candidates are now directed to the Riyadh/Abu Dhabi/Doha offices - how much of that is true? If so, when do you suspect hiring will pick up pace again for the Dubai office?

Hi there,

Based on my network, only Bain Dubai has a freeze at the moment and only for generalist roles.

All other offices and MBBs are still recruiting. Some of my candidates are already in the interviewing stages at these offices.

These things changesfast however, so don't rely too much on them. Just apply at the firms that you want to apply to and hope for the best.

Hi there,

This is truly going to depend on the company as well as the role.

Hiring appeared to be stronger over the past few months (compared to other regions), but I appears to have come down now.

Again, company and role dependent here.

No one knows exactly when hiring will pick up, and, again, it's going to be different by company, role, recruiting channel, etc.

The best thing you can do is network to get a pulse on things based on your exact situation.

I wouldn't call it a hiring freeze. But in reality some markets are putting more pressure in being served by local consultants, meaning that Dubai will lose some weight.

Hello,

I agree with Ian that this is very office/role dependent - I recommend reaching out to recruiters at the specific offices you are interested in applying to to learn more.

For Mckinsey it is true, they are telling candidates from the beginning of their recruitment that Dubai is not an option, you can only go to Riyadh or Doha, unless you have some very very strong reason to be in dubai. i'm not very sure this applies to Bain or BCG as well, but i expect its the same to some degree

I've never heard them mention to me or anyone else about abu dhabi office, its a small office i think, i mean there are other McK offices in GCC (e.g. Kuwait, Bahrain) but they are very small and ive never heard McK mentioning them.
