For example if you get rejected in Orphoz interview are you going to get the 1 year grace period to apply to McKinsey too?
Is application to Orphoz the same as application to McKinsey?
Hey there,
The specific answer can be given only by the Recruting team of your intended office, as every office has specific rules/guidelines on these topics (depending on the demand they currently have, their recruiting history, etc.).
If I had to take a position, I would assume that the grace period applies, unfortunately. Orphoz and McKinsey are now fairly much integrated: as a McKinsey consultant, I worked with Orphoz consultants on a few projects and I did a lot of training sessions with them, and they were using the same systems, processes, rules that we McK folks had.
For this reason, I would expect the candidates' database (and rules management) to be fairly integrated as well.
Best,
Tom
PS: However, let me ask you: why do you feel you should fail the interview? If you prep well, you can pass it! I have worked with Orphoz teams and I am very familiar with Public Sector Consulting casing -- feel free to DM me for a free intro call :)
Orphoz isn't really separate from McKinsey, it's part of the same group (their delivery arm). So if you get rejected, the ban usually applies across both, and your Solve results are shared too.
Also, one thing to fix in your thinking: a rejection doesn't give you a "grace period" to apply. It actually triggers a cool off ban where you can't apply, usually 12 to 18 months. A strong referral and a better CV can sometimes shorten it.
This mainly applies if you're rejected at interview stage. A CV screen rejection often has no ban. Don't treat Orphoz as an easy back door, prep hard for it.
Hi there,
If you're applying through the McKinsey website for an Orphoz position, then it's very likely that the firm-wide freeze applies.
But if you want to be extra sure, do check this with the recruiter. They would be able to give you a clearer answer.
Best,
Cristian
hey! Yes it is the same application and process!
