Hi everyone, I recently completed my first round of interviews with Bain. After a two-week wait, I received an email from the recruiter asking to "connect this week for a call to discuss the results." They provided a calendar link to book a slot.

In your experience with Bain's recruiting process, does a scheduled call for "results" typically lean toward an invitation to the final round, or is it common for Bain to schedule calls specifically to provide rejection feedback? I’d appreciate any insights on what to expect for this conversation.

That said, Bain does sometimes schedule calls for rejections, especially when they want to give more personalized feedback after interviews. So a call does not automatically mean you’re progressing to final round. If it were a straightforward pass, some offices communicate that by email, others by call — practices vary.

What you can take as a mild positive is that they chose to speak live rather than send a generic update. That usually means your candidacy was taken seriously and discussed, whether the outcome is a pass or a no.

For the call itself:

Be professional and open
If it’s a rejection, listen carefully to feedback — Bain feedback is often quite useful

Based on personal experience with Bain recruiting, a “results call” after Round 1 more often than not means a no — especially if it comes without an invitation or scheduling for Round 2

How to interpret it:

If you’re advancing to Round 2, Bain typically moves straight to scheduling the next interviews
Sometimes (less frequently), they combine the results call with developmental feedback and still invite you to R2 — so there is some upside optionality
Bain does occasionally schedule calls to deliver rejection feedback rather than sending a generic email

What to expect on the call:

Clear outcome (pass / no pass)
Often specific feedback on cases or fit
In some cases, guidance on what to improve before reapplying
