How do you know it is time to hire engineering consulting

I have been part of a few projects where our team tried to handle everything from design to planning and technical decisions. At first it seemed fine but later we started running into problems like rising costs, missed details, and delayed deadlines.

I came across Engineering Consulting from Inblenda and it made me think about whether bringing in outside experts earlier could have saved us from those issues.

For those who have worked with consultants, when did you realize it was the right moment to seek professional support and what difference did it make for your project?

First of all, I have to say your question sounds like a plug for Inblenda.

But to take it for what it is, there's a point where you realise that you don't have the expertise and you can't get it or it would be too resource intensive to get it. So then you 'rent' the expertise, which is arguably what consulting is - external, rented expertise.

Typically, you go through a request for proposals phase to see which consulting firm has the best answer or approach for whatever your problem is, and then you take it from there.

Best,
Cristian

Like Cristian noted - weird plug and maybe from a spambot. A sizeable portion of members of Preplounge are still in their undergraduate programs ^^

Hey there :)

It usually becomes clear you need engineering consultants when internal resources start causing delays, costs are rising, or critical technical gaps appear. Bringing in experts early can help catch design flaws, optimize processes, and keep projects on schedule. Many teams see a big difference in efficiency, risk reduction, and quality once consultants provide guidance.

You can reach out if you want tips on how to evaluate when to bring in external support!

best, Alessa :)
