How can I secure an internship or part-time role at a consulting firm in Madrid while pursuing my Master in Management at IE Business School?

Hi,

As a recent engineering graduate from India with one year of experience in my family’s business, I will be starting my Master in Management at IE Business School in Spain this September. I am currently learning Spanish and actively looking to gain consulting experience during my studies.

What are the most effective steps I can take now to build a strong profile and improve my chances of securing a part-time role or internship at a consulting firm in Madrid while studying?

My goal is to gain practical exposure during the program and eventually transition into a full-time consulting role after graduation. I would deeply appreciate any guidance, actionable advice, or recommended resources to help me prepare for and navigate this path.

Thanks

Hi, I am an IE MiM alum. lol, also did the September intake.
There is a consulting careers division, they will give you plenty of support with that if you reach out.

The IE Consulting Club is also pretty good, I was part of that board too and learnt a lot more about consulting there.

Book a free intro call with me so we can exchange further #WeAreIE

Hey there,

Have a chat with Phenyo (a coach on this Platform) to get tangible guidance on this. He's walked the journey you're trying to go on and could have very specific insights and contacts that you could benefit from

In your situation, you should really reach out to your career services office, as well as to alumni who were able to join your target firms (particularly foreigner from non-spanish countries and from outside EU) and understand how they got their jobs.

Hi there,

This is ambitious, which means it might also be slightly problematic.

It's likely that the MiM program will be intensive as is, and not allowing you for much time outside of the studies.

Plus, to my knowledge from other students who have been part of the program, you'll have the chance to get practical experience as part of the program. I believe they will group you and then assign you to help local organisations or organisations abroad.

Otherwise, if you feel you do have the time, I'd make use of the career office at IE to get a sense of what part time hiring opportunities are around that would make sense for you.

Best of luck with the program!
Cristian
